POSITION DESCRIPTION
BOARD MEMBER / COMPANY SECRETARY
Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre is seeking a new voluntary Board Member who will also take on the role of Company Secretary.
Red Stitch is one of Melbourne’s best-known and respected theatre companies. Based in St Kilda, it is a small but highly regarded company with a national reputation for producing intimate, critically acclaimed contemporary theatre and supporting Australian artists and new work.
We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to the governance of a vibrant arts organisation and who brings experience in company secretarial or governance work. What matters most is that you are thoughtful, organised, comfortable with Board processes, and genuinely interested in the arts.
This is a lovely opportunity for someone who wants to be involved in Melbourne's cultural life in a practical and meaningful way, without taking on a large time commitment. The Board meets once a month, and there is minimal work outside meetings.
In this role, you would:
serve as a member of the Board
support the Chair and Board with basic company secretarial and governance matters
assist with agendas, minutes and Board papers as needed
help keep the organisation’s governance processes orderly and up to date.
We would especially love to hear from people who:
have some experience in a Company Secretary, governance, legal or related role
understand the basics of Board process and good governance
have an interest in theatre, the arts and the role of small not-for-profit organisations in the community
are collaborative, reliable and happy to contribute in a practical way.
Red Stitch welcomes interest from people of different backgrounds and lived experience. We warmly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and D/deaf and disabled people.
To express interest, please send an EOI including your relevant experience to recruitment@redstitch.net
