Red Sky Morning
by Tom Holloway

Red Sky Morning is a lyrical exploration of dislocation and the need to connect told through the experience of a father, a mother and their teenage daughter in the course of a single, life-changing day. Tom Holloway’s surprising, seriously inventive new play is a funny, moving and sometimes shocking ride through the interiors of the mind. Red Stitch is proud to present the world premiere of a profoundly innovative new Australian work, developed by the company together with one of the most exciting young writers in the country.

“Breathtaking...testament to one of the rising stars of Australian theatre.”  (
Martin Ball, The Age)

"Sheer virtuosity...masterful... a remarkable theatrical experience." (Michael Magnusson, On Stage and Walls)

Marie Antoinette - The Colour of Flesh
by Joel Gross

A dramatic love triangle set during the turbulent years leading up to the French Revolution. A beautiful, social climbing painter uses her affair with a leading nobleman to gain access to the naive young Queen Marie Antoinette, furthering her career as he, in turn, pursues political goals.  Both, however, fall in love with the queen they are exploiting and set off a scandal that shatters all of their lives.

“The sweep of a historical novel… real events swirl outside, while inside at Versailles, emotions swirl just as vigorously around a triangle of love and friendship...Explores issues of class...while creating a touching story of love.”  (The New York Times)

“This elegant, intimate drawing-room-and boudoir drama...deftly (weaves) politics, history, art and romance...”
(BackStage)

Directed by Denis Moore ('Harvest', 'The Country'')

Oct 8 - Nov 8  Wed-Sat 8pm, Sun 6.30pm.  (120 mins - inc interval)

The Work of Wonder
by Christian Lollike

Is faith a prerequisite for fanaticism and terrorism? Does Karl Heinz Stockhausen’s notorious statement about the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Centre being the ultimate work of art only say something about a warped, artistic mind’s
view on the cruelty of the modern world? Or did the producers of modern disaster and horror movies really get what they secretly
dreamt about when the World Trade Centre collapsed? Lollike is in-house playwright at Aarhus Theatre in Denmark, and was nominated Playwright of the Year in 2003 and 2006. Translation by Jens Svane Boutrup.

“Lollike’s exuberant piece leaps between brutal poetry, ethereal dream play, and farcical slapstick … It is funny and touching, thought provoking and gripping.”  (Dagens Nyheter (SE), Undskyld gamle)

Directed by André Bastian
